Self Defense Seminar: Coburn Park
**Please note: we request that you come in a group of 2-3 people for this program as it will require hands-on movements with your partner(s). Due to our social- distancing COVID-19 protocols, you will not be able to match up with another participant who is not already within your household circle.**
Join the Skowhegan AmeriCorps Outdoor Recreation Program in collaboration with New Creation Taekwondo New England for a self-defense seminar! Here, participants will learn skills to get out of some of the most common assaults. You will learn how to draw attention to an assault, some basic hand and feet techniques, self defense techniques, and most importantly, have fun while doing it! All this, outdoors, in the beautiful Coburn Park!

Matt Owens
New Creation Taekwondo
Matt Owens has a well-rounded martial arts background that began while he was growing up in New Jersey. He has studied taekwondo for 15 years and has taught it for 12; kickboxing for 10 years; and jiu-jitsu for 2 years. Matt has two black belts in taekwondo and a black belt in kickboxing. He has taught toddlers to adults. Matt has competed in and won dozens of tournaments along the east coast. Even while being busy studying martial arts, he has obtained his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Thomas College, raises two children with his wife, and started his own taekwondo business in January 2020.
