John Meader of Northern Stars Planetarium will lead us through a tour of the constellations and stars. We will also find and discuss the visible planets\, the Milky Way\, as well as meteors (shooting stars) and satellites.  John will share a bit of sky-lore storytelling to explore how peoples of the past looked at the sky. From 1983-87 he was the Director of the Malcolm Science Center Planetarium in Easton\, Maine.   \nIn 1987 John founded Northern Stars Planetarium\, a traveling inflatable planetarium based in Fairfield. Since that time John has travelled to schools and libraries across central and mid-coast Maine offering planetarium shows and evening star parties. Reaching more than 16\,000 students each year\, John has brought the sky to people all over Maine. \nHe has taught Observational Astronomy classes at the University of Maine at Orono\, the University of Maine at Presque Isle\, Loring Air Force Base\, and Kennebec Valley Community College.  His expertise in astronomy education has taken him from Australia to Italy\, sharing his love of the sky with students across the globe.
