SUMMARY:Fresh Air Fridays | July 17\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:Intro to Whitewater SUP with Hala Gear\nAugust 7 | 5:00pm – 6:00pm ++\nBallfield\, West Forks\, ME\n  \nA one-hour whitewater SUP clinic for paddlers ready to move from flatwater paddleboarding onto moving current (participants must have prior flatwater paddleboarding experience). This clinic covers the fundamentals of whitewater SUP — paddle strokes\, board control\, footwork\, eddy turns\, ferrying\, and reading water — on a downriver environment in a supportive\, guided setting. \nProgram Type: Guided Experience\nCost: Free! \nIncludes: \n\nProfessional instruction\nWhitewater SUP\, paddle\, helmet\, and PFD\n\nWhat to Expect:\nDiversify your SUP skills! River and whitewater SUP will unlock many more adventures close to home\, and this clinic will build your confidence and control on moving water. We’ll begin on dry land at the West Forks ballfield\, going over gear\, warming up\, and covering footwork\, paddle strokes\, safety\, and recovery. From there we’ll move to a calm eddy to practice those skills and talk through reading water\, eddy turns\, and ferrying. Instruction emphasizes river safety\, smart decision-making\, and comfortable\, repeatable technique on forgiving Class I–II features. \nGroup size is limited to 6 participants. \nInstructor:\nThis course is taught by Hala Gear Team Athlete Chris Morgan. Chris started whitewater SUP paddling on the Kennebec 10 years ago and has since paddled all over the US and abroad. Despite paddling in places like the Grand Canyon\, the Soča (Slovenia)\, and the Upper Gauley (WV)\, the Kennebec is still his favorite place to paddle. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this course — and will leave you wanting to spend more time standing on the river! \n\n \n\n Register

He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this course — and will leave you wanting to spend more time standing on the river! \n\n \n\n Register
