We will walk through forest\, field\, and wetland along the 1 mile Inner Loop trail\, and enjoy the early morning sunshine\, fresh air\, and good company. This is a one-hour program and is appropriate for anyone able to walk one mile at any pace on a mild trail with rocks\, roots\, and gentle hills. Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. \nWe will meet at the Yankee Woodlot parking area. Weather in April can be unpredictable; please dress warmly\, wear boots appropriate for snow or mud\, bring water and snacks\, and wear your face mask. DESCRIPTION:Meet @ MSS office 8:00 a.m.\nRome\, Maine\nProgram Limit: 15 \nPreregister for the program here: https://forms.gle/D8yY6GFqDadBXUda8 \nJoin Skowhegan Outdoors for a hike up Round Top Mountain near Rome! This hike features a lovely view after a 1\,000 foot climb. The total mileage round trip is approximately 5 miles and could take up to 6 hours to complete\, depending on conditions. This program is best suited for intermediate hikers and is rated as moderate to strenuous. Participants should be comfortable being outdoors for long periods of time and hiking up moderate to steep hills.  Skowhegan Outdoors Facilitators will call participants before this program to ensure preparedness. Community Science is how you\, the community\, can help researchers collect data with minimal prior knowledge. This program will introduce the Maine Bird Atlas\, which is an ongoing community science program\, as well as beginner birding tips and tricks. We will then use our new found knowledge to look for and record bird sightings on a lovely 1.5 mile stroll through the woods. This program is perfect for anyone who is interested in birding\, ecology\, and conservation. This stroll will be about 3 miles over easy/moderate terrain. We’ll start walking at dusk and reach Taylor Field in time for sunset\, then use our headlamps for the walk back. This trail is accessible for all ages and is on easy-moderate terrain with some rocks and roots along the way. DESCRIPTION:Meet @ MSS office 9 a.m.\nBelgrade\, Maine\nProgram Limit: 25 participants \nPreregister for the program here: https://forms.gle/D8yY6GFqDadBXUda8 \nJoin Skowhegan Outdoors for a family-friendly hike up Sanders Hill in the Kennebec Highlands Conserved Land in Rome\, Maine! On this hike\, participants can expect a gradual hike on a loop trail to the summit and a rewarding view once we get there. The total loop is approximately 3 miles and could take up to 5 hours depending on the speed of our all-ages group. This program is appropriate for all ages and abilities\, but participants should be comfortable moving for 3-5 hours on uneven terrain\, outdoors\, and uphill for half of the hike.  \nSkowhegan Outdoors facilitators will call participants before this program to ensure preparedness. Please arrive at the MSS office 15 minutes early to check in. We will leave promptly at 9 a.m.. \nWeather in April can be unpredictable. Please dress warmly in plenty of wool or synthetic layers\, wear comfortable\, closed-toe shoes\, bring water\, snacks\, a substantial lunch\, and wear a face mask.
