Join us anytime between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and you and your kiddo will be set up with a nature-themed scavenger hunt full of fascinating natural history knowledge to discover around Coburn Park. Find all of the items on the list and you and your kiddo will take home an outdoor-learning-inspired prize.  \nPlease preregister for the Nature Scavenger Hunt in advance so we can be sure to have enough program materials for all participants. DESCRIPTION:When: Saturday\, April 3rd\, noon – 2 p.m.\nWhere: Strawberry Hill Farms\nProgram Limit: 15 participants\nPreregister for program here: https://forms.gle/fvi9y8ZYq437DdiV8  \nCome along with Skowhegan Outdoors to local farm and business Strawberry Hill Farms\, where we’ll get a glimpse into the fascinating world of maple syrup production. Owner Jeremy Steeves will walk us through the procedure for collecting\, purifying\, dehydrating\, and storing this much-loved treat. After his talk\, we’ll take a stroll along the trails behind the processing buildings through one of the beautiful maple forests where he harvests his syrup. This program is great for ages 10+. \nWe will meet at Strawberry Hill Farms. See the location pin for help navigating there. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to check-in as we will begin the tour promptly at 12 p.m. Weather in April can be unpredictable; please dress warmly\, wear boots appropriate for snow or mud\, bring water and snacks\, and wear your face mask. We will enjoy a leisurely stroll along the paths of Skowhegan’s downtown park as we read through posted storyboards of From Head to Toe\, by Eric Carle\, a colorful and engaging book geared towards getting young readers moving. If you are unable to attend the community event on the morning of Sunday\, March 21\, no worries\, we will keep the story walk set up throughout the afternoon. This program is for young kiddos + their grownups. Please preregister ALL participants in your party and prepare for all participants to wear face masks throughout the program. \nFrom bestselling author Eric Carle\, creator of much-loved children’s books Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Grouchy Ladybug\, comes a dynamic\, fun and interactive board book that will have young readers wiggling\, stomping\, thumping and more as they learn about the animal kingdom! \nStory boards provided by Somerset Public Health.
